NASA/NOAA FLOOD MAPPING PROJECT

Remote Sensing & Geospatial Lab - North Carolina A&T State University

This study investigates an approach to map 3D flood map (i.e., floodwater extent and depth) using UAV high-resolution imagery and LiDAR for Hurricane Matthew. I utilized a deep learning approach to map flooded areas and estimate the water depth from post-event UAV images and their corresponding DEM data.

DEVELOPMENT TREND ANALYSIS

City Plan Department - City of New Haven, Connecticut

This study in partnership with the city of New Haven mapped and reviewed the development trajectory and regulatory actions by the city agencies. I utilized the existing application databases of the City Plan Commission (CPC), and the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) to identify and analyze development trends at the neighborhood level within the city over a period. This helped to inform green development initiatives within the city.

REAL-TIME SPATIAL DATA COLLECTING & MONITORING

This project showcases the use of the ArcGIS Suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS field map app) to design and collect field data and monitor field activities in real time. A designed information dashboard presented Preliminary statistics and analysis of the collected field data in real time.

MAPPING HISTORY PROJECT

Remote Sensing & Geospatial Lab - North Carolina A&T State University

This project maps and analyzes the proximity of farm plantations and swamp infestations in Tuscarora Indianwoods in North Carolina. This mapping is based on the historical research work of Dr. Arwin Smallwood, the head of department of the History and Political Science Department - at North Carolina This was a collaborative project between my lab and the Political Science and History Department at North Carolina A&T State University, led by Dr. Arwin Smallwood.

NASA ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE PROJECT

Hixon Center Urban Ecology - Yale School of the Environment

This project involved characterizing and monitoring mult-decadal urban heat and tree canopy cover for the state of Connecticut and the city of New Haven. Leverages satellite and aerial images(MODIS, LANDSAT, NAIP) as well as socio-economic data to develop geospatial information to inform decision-making at the state and city level.

OTHER

These are other projects conducted. They include geospatial data analysis for private individuals and government organizations. They also include other lab projects and personally conducted projects.

Other Projects conducted

MAPPING COMMUNITY GREEN INITIATIVES

As a summer intern with the Urban Resources initiative. I leveraged the ArcGIS Pro and ArcScene to create 3D maps of implemented green initiatives of 7 community groups across the city of New Haven.

Urban Resources Initiative - Yale University

URBAN AFRICA PROJECT

This involved the time series mapping of the horizontal and vertical dimensions of building infrastructures within the built environment. We worked on leveraging the Landsat image collection and Convolutional Neural Network algorithm(python Tensorflow) to estimate the building density and building height per 30-meter square. The study was focused on all urban areas across Africa.
